Three Killed By Semi Buried Today in DeSoto – January 26, 2011
There is a great deal of sadness in DeSoto today as the three individuals killed in the tragic accident last week on Hwy 67 were buried at the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in DeSoto, Missouri.
Frank Weber, 56, of Desoto, Missouri, his son Aaron Weber, 20, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and Aaron’s girlfriend Rachel Sharp, 18, also of Bonne Terre, were pronounced dead at the scene last Thursday, after the accident on U.S. 67 near St. Francios State Park. The three individuals were traveling southbound in a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria when they were struck from behind by a 2008 Freightliner semi-truck, pushing them down an embankment and several hundred feet off the roadway.
According to reports, the automobile was slowing when it was stuck. The tractor trailer driver, 37-year-old Robert Carmona, from New York, has been charged with three counts of second-degree involuntary manslaughter and driving on a revoked license. Carmona suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
It’s unclear if weather played any role in the crash. The Missouri Highway Patrol noted that the roads were wet but not covered with snow.
Aaron Weber and Rachel Sharp, leave behind a baby girl and Rachel was pregnant with their second child, a baby boy. Rachel also leaves behind a three year old girl from another relationship.
The victims were heading to Aaron and Rachel’s home which was apparently very close to the crash scene.
Negligence can often have devastating consequences. Let all of us keep all those affected in our thoughts and prayers, especially the children left behind.
