Michael Corrigan Obtains $500,000 Judgment for Jefferson County Man Involved in Motor Vehicle Accident - November 13, 2009

On December 21, 2007, James Boyer was operating a commercial vehicle/cement truck on Route WW in Jefferson County, Missouri when his vehicle was struck by an oncoming motor vehicle causing the dump truck to overturn into a ditch and strike a tree. The vehicle that caused the automobile accident was operated by James Kornhardt.

Mr. Boyer sustained serious, permanent injuries in the car crash. He was flown by an emergency medical helicopter from the scene of the collision to St. John's Mercy Medical Center. At the hospital, x-rays and MRI tests revealed fractures of the thoracic spine and lumbar spine along with several rib fractures. James Boyer was admitted to the hospital for seven days. Following his discharge from the hospital, James received medical treatment from numerous orthopedic doctors, and that treatment included pain medication and physical therapy.

James Boyer incurred medical bills in excess of $50,000.00 and lost wages in excess of $18,000.00.

The insurance company for James Kornhardt refused to settle the personal injury claim out of court. As a result, The Padberg & Corrigan Law Firm filed a lawsuit against James Kornhardt in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County.

On July 24, 2009, attorney Michael P. Corrigan with The Padberg & Corrigan Law Firm represented Mr. Boyer in his lawsuit against the opposing driver. The Jefferson County Circuit Court judge entered a judgment in the amount of $500,000.00 in favor or James Boyer and against the defendant to compensate Mr. Boyer for his permanent injuries and the damages he suffered from the car accident that occurred on December 21, 2007.
