Matthew J. Padberg

Matthew J. Padberg is a principal and partner in The Padberg & Corrigan Law Firm. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri—Columbia in 1983. While in law school, he worked at the Missouri Supreme Court and was a law clerk for the Eastern District Court of Appeals.

After graduating law school, Mr. Padberg was a clerk for Judge Jack K. Regan, a United States District Judge, Eastern District of Missouri. In 1984, he entered private practice with the firm of Padberg, McSweeney, Slater & Merz, representing plaintiffs in civil litigation. Between 1984 and 1999, Mr. Padberg tried multiple trials in venues throughout Missouri and Illinois. In 1993, he was awarded the Lon O. Hocker Trial Lawyer Award by The Missouri Bar. In 1994, he was awarded the “Outstanding Young Lawyer of St. Louis County” award by the County Bar Association. In September, 1998, he received the Missouri Bar Pro Bono Award. In 2001, he was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates. Since 2001, Mr. Padberg has served as an adjunct professor of law at the St. Louis University Law School.

Mr. Padberg was the President of the Lawyers Association of St. Louis from 1998 through 1999. He is a member of The Missouri Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, the St. Louis Metropolitan Bar Association, the St. Louis County Bar Association, the St. Louis Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Padberg has been serving on the Board of Governors in the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys since 1991. In 1993, he was appointed by Governor Mel Carnahan to serve as commissioner on the St. Louis Police Board, where he served from 1993 to 1996.

Mr. Padberg concentrates his practice in representing individuals and families who have been impacted by either personal injury or death. Mr. Padberg has represented persons injured or killed through acts of medical negligence, product liability, nursing home abuse, aircraft accidents, helicopter accidents, work site accidents, construction site injuries, including crane accidents, death caused by electrocutions and chemical exposures.

In June 1999, Mr. Padberg founded The Padberg & Corrigan Law Firm, which concentrates exclusively in the area of civil litigation, medical malpractice, aviation law, workers’ compensation, general personal injury law, and wrongful death.
