Car Accidents in Southeast Missouri – October 28, 2009

A single-car accident near Clarkton, Missouri, in Dunklin County, resulted in a fatality of one local individual and severely injured another when the automobile ran off the road on Highway 25 and struck a utility pole on Thursday, October 22, 2009. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger, who suffered serious injuries, was taken by ambulance to Twin Rivers Hospital.

Also on Thursday, a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 221, in St. Francois County left four individuals with moderate or minor injuries. The accident occurred north of Hildebrecht road when one driver was apparently traveling southbound on the highway when an eastbound vehicle tried to make a left turn from a private driveway and pulled into the path of the southbound driver.  The injured were taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center and Parkland Health Center.  All individuals were apparently wearing seat belts. One of the vehicles was listed as totaled with damage to the other automobile listed as moderate.

A Potosi man received minor injuries Saturday, October 24, 2009 when his car struck a deer that was crossing Highway 30 in Ste. Genevieve County.  The accident occurred at 9 p.m. near Route O when the vehicle was traveling westbound. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Health Center.  Damage to the vehicle was listed as minor.

In St. Francois County, a Park Hills woman was injured on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, when two cars collided on northbound U.S. 67 at Route K.  One vehicle stopped in traffic and a following vehicle failed to stop striking the stopped car.  The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center.  Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Also on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, an Irondale man received moderate injuries when his westbound vehicle on Route M in Washington County went off the left side of the road and struck a bluff about .2 miles east of Route U.  The driver was taken by ambulance to Washington County Memorial Hospital. Damage to the vehicle was listed as totaled.

A Bonne Terre woman received moderate injuries Tuesday, October 13, 2009 when a 2007 Suzuki and a 2003 Buick LeSabre collided on Route K in St. Francois County.  The accident occurred at 10:35 p.m., .5 mile east of Hillsboro Road. The driver of the Suzuki was westbound, when she apparently traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and crossed the center line. The front of the Suzuki struck the front left side of the eastbound LeSabre.  The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. Damage to each vehicle was listed as totaled.
