Southeast Missouri counties are a great destination this fall - October 07, 2009

Over the decades, Padberg & Corrigan has developed a strong presence for personal injury representation in the southeast counties of Missouri. A large number of our injured clients come from this beautiful part of our state. We have strong relationships with the courts and the many fine law firms and lawyers in Ste Genevieve, Cape Girardeau, Scott, New Madrid, Dunklin, Bollinger & Stoddard Counties.

We get down there often and always enjoy some of the little known aspects of this area of Missouri.  As October is upon us, I want to encourage any of you looking for a pleasant fall trip to consider just a few of many Southeast Missouri destinations: 

In Cape Girardeau, Mo -

Try the downtown walking tour, a two mile route featuring 19 points of historical interest.  Also be sure to visit the art galleries at 32 N. Main.

In East Prairie, Mo -

Visit Big Oak Tree State Park, 1,029 acres of the areas original landscape and some of Missouri's champion trees

In Dexter, MO -

Visit the Frenchman's Spring Historical Marker marking the location of the spring instrumental in the war between the states.

In Sikeston, MO

Visit the Sikeston Depot.  This 1916 depot, on the National Register of Historic Places, houses historical exhibits with monthly art and cultural events

In Miner, Mo

Visit the Southeast Missouri Agricultural Museum. With two 1800 era  log cabins, 6,000+ pieces of antique farm equipment and a 5000 sq ft antique store, it's worth the trip.

In Puxico, Mo

Visit the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge - 21,592 acres of preserved bottomland hardwood forest.

In Ste. Genevieve, Mo

Visit the many wineries and antique store.

In New Madrid, Mo

Check out the New Madrid Historical Museum to learn of the history of the great earthquake and learn more about the New Madrid fault.

In Charleston, Mo

Make sure to take in the Dogwood/Azalea festival this spring, in a town rated one of the 10 best small towns in America.

Finally, if you are an outdoorsman, Southeast Missouri offers some of the best hunting and fishing opportunities available anywhere.  Every September 1st, you will find me dove hunting in the bootheel, and duck and goose season is almost here.  Get out this fall and enjoy this wonderful part of our lovely state.
