The Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum obtained a $9,800,000 settlement for a 21-year old woman who was permanently paralized when the vehicle in which she was a passenger was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 44 in Pacific, Franklin County, Missouri. The tractor-trailer struck the pickup truck in which the young woman was riding, causing it to overturn and partially ejecting her. She fractured her neck, was placed on life support and was in a coma for several months. Thereafter, she was transferred to a rehab hospital where she remained for 6 months.
The attorneys at Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum filed a lawsuit in federal district court against the owner of the truck and the truck driver. After numerous depositions of expert witnesses, witnesses to the accident and all parties involved, a settlement for $9,800,000 was reached one week prior to trial. The settlement will provide the young woman with sufficient funds to pay for her medical and personal needs for the rest of her life.
